Using the app

Welcome to Cubesolver, the app that teaches you to solve the 3D Puzzle.

Here you'll find short instructions for using the app, hope you'll find it useful.

On the Home page, you will be presented with 3 segments: Scramble, Solve and Custom.

Scramble:

In this mode, you can randomly scramble the cube by pressing .

Pressing again will stop the scramble.

You can also manually rotate an edge by pressing the corresponding rotation button, (e.g. R for right clockwise rotation).

Use the toggle to reverse rotation direction to counter clockwise.

When you are done scrambling, you are ready to go to the Solve segment .

Solve:

Here you are offered one of two solution methods:

  • A solution roughly based on the 3D Puzzle beginners guide.
  • An optimal solution - lets you solve the cube in 22 moves or fewer.

Use the navigation buttons as follows:

Go forward one step.

Step preview. This will help you see the relevant parts falling into place.

Walk-through to the end.

Go forward one turn.

Go back one turn.

Go back one step.

Notes:
  • Use the More... button at the bottom of the app to pick solution method.
  • More algorithms will be available shortly - stay tuned.

Custom:

This will help you set the app's cube like your physical cube.

Will "grey out" the cube, letting you use the color buttons to set the cube as you wish.

Will reset the cube to a solved state.

Will reset the first two layers, letting you customize the rest.

Will reset the first layer with the cross. This becomes useful while you're making progress.

and
will set the cube to predefined (preset) states. This is useful if you want to repeat a solution for training purposes. If no predefined state is preset, you will get the star or the square pattern.

To set a predefined state:

  • Use scramble or custom to set the cube to the desired state.
  • Press and hold one of the preset buttons for 1 second.
  • You will see the ripple effect when done.
  • Holding the key for 2.5 seconds will delete the predefined pattern.
