CFOP Guide

Welcome to the Cubesolver CFOP solution guide.

CFOP, also known as the Fridrich method, stands for:

 Cross (White Cross)

Solving the white cross, as in the beginner guide, only here, you will hold the cube with the white face facing down.

 F2L - First Two Layers

Here you will insert white corners together with their corresponding edges, completing two layers at one stage.

OLL - OLL - Orient Last layers

At this stage, you will utilize one of 57 algorithms to complete the yellow face in one step.

PLL - PLL - Permute Last layers

Finally, you will adjust the corners and edges of the last layer using one of 27 algorithms.

If you can solve the cube, using the beginner's guide, in less than 2 minutes, you're ready for this method.

CFOP is not easy to learn. Most people, me included, cannot learn it at once, so the name of the game is:

  • Doing it step by step.
  • Cutting out time.

My advice, and I'm definitely not a master:

  • Learn F2L first. This is done intuitively. Learn the 3 possible cases: how to get to them and how to solve them. Use other sources as well - search YouTube.
  • You already know how to set the yellow cross. Learn the 7 yellow-cross algorithms out of the 57 OLL.
  • You also know how to adjust the last layer corners. Learn the Ua, Ub, H and Z permutations first.
  • Now you're ready to gradually learn more algorithms.
Although the internet is loaded with information, I hope you'll find my app useful.
  • Practice makes perfect.
  • Muscle memory.
